Strolling down Boylston

Check out her booties (tee hee). Her shoes are hot!

Rachel at the Prudential

Perfect outfit for light shopping at the Prudential on a Sunday. Colored tights add a splash of color to an outfit.

Scarves even around the waist

How you doin', Naz? Wearing a turtleneck under your summer dress is a great way to look cute and keep the winter blues at bay. A scarf (or belt) defines the waist.

More scarves

The black and white striped scarf here stands out against his leather jacket.

Wrapt it up

A thick scarf (or any scarf really), wrapped a few times around your neck and thrown over the shoulder in such a manner adds instant effortlessness and glam.

Simple does it

This is an Italian gentleman with a wonderful smile. His clothes are simple, yet of great quality. Goes to show, simplicity works every time. An aside, after a bit of flirting, I say to him, this look is a bit of Milan, he says: Ah, I'm Italian. And I thought, of course. The shoes are hot. Invest in good shoes guys (I mean leather, and real stitching, not shoes glued on to rubber), the ladies always look at your feet.

P.S. I've been going to the Carriage House in Harvard Square for my monthly grooming appointments with Nicole since this summer. I went in last week and there was Michele (pronounced ma-kay-lee). He's a hair stylist there.

Newbury Street

I noticed Brian as he leisurely turned from Dartmouth unto Newbury Street. The white umbrella, the shoes (of obvious quality), the glasses, the button-down shirt peeking from under the t-shirt bespoke Brian’s playfulness with fashion.

Yes, I'll even corner you at the bank

Love the how the buttons pick up the color of the boots. On countless cold days in Beantown, a graphic or fun coat helps.

At the Prudential Mall

I noticed this young woman then noticed her friend (see below). I liked the simplicity of her outfit with a pop of color. Both she and her friends were unobtrusive, yet at the same time, popped out of the crowd.

Still at the Pru

Here, I like her use of color and texture. Notice how the belt and white waffle sweater complement each other.

Around Cambridge

Friday night in Beantown

As my friend Nick would say, it was colder than a witch's t!t in a brass brassierre, yet this lovely woman posed for me. Merci bien!

Davis Square, Somerville

There are rules to fashion and style; there are no rules to fashion. One thing I know, proportion is key, tailoring always matters, pleated pants should generally be avoided, and honestly, tapered trousers/pants rarely work **skinny jeans on the right body type is excluded***. A streamlined, classic look can never fail. However, you should do you when it comes to fashion. Meaning, create your own style. I don't encourage that every man should go out and get a red coat (I suspect this one may be a woman's coat). This gentleman was true to himself and clearly has fun with fashion. That's all that matters.

Yearbook picture day at Harvard Law School

This young lawyer to be had no clue he looked so good. Imagine, it's yearbook picture taking week at Harvard Law. The guys, the gals, show up the top half all suited. They had no idea how bad ass they looked. I encourage you to try this look guys. The jeans is where it gets tricky. Just make sure they are straight-leg or a bit ratty. Wear dress shoes or Converse sneakers to balance the look. Check out the Fall '08 Junya Watanabe menswear collection for more ideas.

Tania writes back....

Yea! Tania wrote us back. Scroll down for her picture at Starbucks.

"Hi. i'm not really sure how i put together that outfit! I guess i just chose one thing i wanted to wear and chose other things that would look good with it. i don't know! Sometimes i just throw together stuff. i usually wear pants like that so i knew the pants i just had to figure out what shirt to wear. A while ago i cut holes for my thumbs on the blue shirt that i wore underneath a t-shirt. i adjusted the holes with safty pins. The sneakers are like my only and i usually wear that jacket so most of it was just same old-same old. But I've never combined that t-shirt with that shirt. Then there's tha hair-dye...but that's another story.
Tania
P.S. I've also designed some stuff."

Sunday evening on Newbury Street

I apologize for the picture quality of the next few slides. I took them around 5:30 on Sunday. The sun had started setting by then.

So, I'm at Starbucks on Newbury when Tania walks in with her parents. At first, I couldn't stop staring at the patent leather jacket. Her father must have thought I was nuts. I don't remember looking this cool at her age. In fact, I remember wearing....well, let's not go there. If you're reading this post Tania, write us at zazaazou@gmail.com to tell us how you put this outfit together. Take after Tania, make fashion your own.

These boys are from a town north of Cambridge in the UK. They were so excited about their purchases today that one of them had to show me his new "gansta trainers." Gotta admit, the sneakers are pretty sweet.

Rama at the Cellar

Rama is in her last year at Mass Art. I've known her for 5 years now and I still think she's super cool. Her style is always relaxed with a bit of artistic funk thrown in there.

Around Harvard Square

It must be interview week. Saw several Harvies all suited up walking to the Science Center. This gentleman looked so posh, and ready for his cameo on James Bond.

Still in Harvard Square

It's cold and wet today. Bad combination as somehow the cold and moisture seeps into your bones. But it's no excuse for looking like a ragamuffin! Becca's red and purple outfit put a bit of cheer into my afternoon. Check out Thony above. His outfit is hot. I'm now chiding myself for not taking a closeup of his jacket which is made of the smallest weave of bluish green corduroy.
