Winter uniform

With all the mild weather, I haven’t had to bust out my winter uniform. Our last mini snow storm has made me hurry a slight bit. By February, I am low on inspiration and have little creativity for cool outfits. This is why I rely on tried and true favorites---uniforms if you will---that always work and always lift my spirits. In some ways all these photos follow my uniform.

Great boots. I have the following pairs in rotation: Wellies (for the snow), black riding boots, brown boots, and a pair in bubble gum pink. A new pair might be in my future come sale season. Perhaps grey? Purple? Cranberry?

Mix patterns. This one is from Ms. dreamecho.

Accessorize. In my book, my coat counts as an accessory. So do my scarves, a headband/scarf, a significant other, lipstick, hats, gloves...

Can you really wear wellies in the snow? I've always thought get too cold if I did that. Alas, it could just be a childhood of my mother telling me that I needed to wear my SNOW boots, not my RAIN boots, that has me confused.

Uuumm. Where are these girls spending winter? Don't get me wrong, very cute but really? Those outfits are not going to fly in a New England winter. Tights, tights and more tights if they're going to be sporting a skirt.

The winter here always puts me into cold weather uniform mode, including but not limited to sturdy boots for icy Comm Ave, a peacoat or parka and black jeans or tights. Too easy.

AbbieBabble, yes you can wear wellies in the snow - Hunter Boots makes a fleece sock liner to go inside wellies so you have the waterproof exterior plus the warm liner!

I love coats and boots and wish I could wear them all day together at work! It's the only time I look great. It's a shame what's seen once the coat comes off.

Jenny--Think of what these girls are wearing as a base. You're right, tights and layers are definitely needed in several inches of snow and below 0 weather.

AbbieBabble--As Wendy Roberts said, the secret to wearing wellies in the snow is the fleece sock lining. They make all the difference!

Hi Linda and Ed--Thanks!

Who makes the ruffled coat in the first photo? Is it the coat that has the tiered hem or is that a skirt?

Nice winter uniforms!!

Did you really take those pictures in December in Boston? I think you know a lot better than this fashion photographer... It's April and Boston weather is just perfect to shoot winter fashion on streets without turning nose and cheek all red :-)

Winter is one of my favorite season. I love the low temperature in that season. What I love most is all the fashionable winter styles like the one that you post.
