Ruffled 'round town

In going along with New Brahmin's recent post on ruffles, I’d like to offer this picture to ruffle your day.

I’m always trying to come up with fun, yet simple outfits for running errands or for a day of studying at the library. Whenever I have to run errands, I resist looking frowzy. It would be much easier to leave the house wearing my yoga pants and a sweatshirt, but I figure, as a preacher of style, I sin whenever I leave the house looking unkempt. However, I’m reluctant to run said errands all dolled up or wearing high heels as I need to wear shoes that will allow a sprint to intercept the meter maid to prevent yet another parking ticket. As always, I try to dress as if I will run into an ex or as if I'm going to meet up with the love of my life, or as the French would say, l'homme de ma vie. Laurie’s outfit is a great inspiration.

You can’t tell from this picture, but Laurie’s sneakers have a slight sheen to them.

The coat is from Anthropologie. The clutch is vintage.

I just returned from running errands. As I assess my faded jeans, hoodie, sneakers and sweat-stained ball cap, I feel an annoying twinge of shame. Wise words, 'tini.

I was going to say (before reading your commentary) how that looks so put together, yet so comfortable. I think I can rock that.
