Musings on cheese, Paris, France
Why does cheese taste infinitely better in France? I ordered a croque monsieur for lunch today. My goodness it was delicious. And the cheese! It wasn't emmenthal nor was it Swiss but whatever it was, I call it divine. I try to stay away from white bread instead, I incorporate whole grains in my diet, so I kind of winced when I saw the croque monsieur. But who am I fooling, I knew what I was doing when I ordered it. Somewhere between reading about the Robert Frank exhibit, between my sixth sip of a Kir Royale and between flirting outrageously with my much older waiter, I thought, bump this! I'm in Paris! Eating whole grains be darned. I'm having a croissant au beurre every day that I'm here. Oh, and crepes, paninis, cantal and french fries....oh, and mille-feuille pastries too.
Here's a picture of my delicious croque monsieur...or at least what was left of it after I remembered to take a picture.

That looks amazing. And I agree, it is very silly to diet while visiting Paris! Enjoy yourself!
So jealous!
Eat some for me, 'tini!
I think EVERYTHING tastes better in France!
A lot of things taste better in France ;) Cheese tastes amazing in Switzerland too hehe.
And btw - I wouldn't have been able to take a pic of it til that stage either, since I'd also have just dug in first hehe. Don't forget to grab some macarons while you're there!
Bon appetit ;) xox
And with a fried egg on it
We call it a "Croque-Madame !"
